Child Safety

The Resurrection school community promotes and is committed to the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.

Ministerial Order 870 came into effect in January 2016. This Order ensures that schools take into account the diversity of children from all backgrounds, especially those who may be vulnerable. Schools must operate with an overarching principle of inclusion. The Order includes 7 Standards which aim to maximise the safety of all children. All schools had to be compliant with the Order as of January 1st, 2017. As part of the compliance requirements, all staff must agree to the school’s Child Safety Policy and sign a Code of Conduct. Volunteers and external providers must sign a Code of Conduct prior to assisting or working in the school. Parent helpers who assist for extended periods of time may be required to sign the school’s Code of Conduct.

A Working with Children Check is required of all volunteers who work with students, including excursions. Application forms are available from Australia Post. There is no cost involved in applying for this check as a volunteer, however, you do need to provide a passport sized photo. The application form needs to be completed online and then submitted at Australia Post. If you are interested in assisting at the school, please apply for a Working with Children Check by visiting

Resurrection School is committed to the safety of all children and young people. Our students’ wellbeing is our priority. We actively listen to, empower and protect children. Resurrection School has active supervision, support and training mechanisms in place to develop the skills and knowledge of our staff and volunteers; we monitor the behaviour and performance of all individuals working with children. We continuously examine the ways in which we work so that we can identify potential risks to the safety of children and develop responses to eliminate risks. Resurrection School promotes confidential reporting that respects individual privacy. We maintain records of child safety issues. Our school provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment in which all students may flourish. Resurrection School welcomes your feedback and strongly encourages the reporting of any child safety concerns.
